what are schools even doing?

From the time I was in school, I've had this hatred towards the education system. Cliche? Maybe. I couldn't study the subjects that I wanted to study. I couldn't satisfy my curiosity. Don’t get me wrong, I loved going to school. I had 100% attendance, but it was more about socializing than learning.

I see my younger siblings struggle to find their footing after school. Isn't 12 years of education supposed to set them up for success? But they come out looking clueless, scrambling to find a career that's going to work for them. The system has failed them.

I've had the opportunity to observe the system both in India and the US. Although US is better especially when it comes to higher education, schooling is still problematic. Where do you even start? The problems in both countries are deeply systemic.

I've always wanted to work on this problem of education but I have no idea where to start. I watched a few videos on homeschooling, it seems like a good solution. However it's a solution for a particular demographic - those with time, money and resources. For the vast majority, schools are the only option.

How do we even begin fixing this? What do we do to ensure our future generations don't come out as clueless chickens?
