relationships and the economy

let's face it. the economy is terrible. many talented people are out of a job. we are trying our hardest to make ends meet. stay afloat among the ever increasing prices. simply buying groceries and paying rent puts a dent in your budget. there is simply no job security. you could be laid off any day.

This puts a huge strain on dating and relationships. when people's mental bandwidth is contrained with job insecurity and money problems - how will they make time for finer things in life? i say this as a workaholic. but i love working. i always have.

young people are constantly moving for job opportunities. you never really settle. we can talk how this is all a grand conspiracy by the overlords to keep us enslaved and keep working. but what is the alternative? if your parents aren't rich you don't really have an option. we are too tired and too burnt out to make relationships work.

i don't have a solution for it. there is no easy fix. so its no wonder so many young people are single and/or childless. the world as we know it has shifted and nothing short of a systemic change will make a difference.
